Which protocols are shaded? CiscoVPN? Normally shimo disables those menuitems when it cannot find the required software on your computer.

I am having what appears to be the same problem. I was using the vpnc, restarted my machine, Shimo would not launch, I uninstalled using instructions on the FAQ, then downloaded a new copy of Shimo. Shimo launches fine now, but only shows the PPTP profile. The rest are grayed out. Before only the Cisco profile was grayed out as I don't have that client.

Please make sure that the required Cisco client and Shimo's helper tools are installed... Shimo checks for their existence and greys out profiles that it does not support without the corresponding component.

I have the same problem - Cisco client is installed.. Cisco and pptp/l2tp are the only profile options available.

Figured it out - the components where not installed, and the "install shimo components" button seems to not work - had to copy the files from my desktop.
