Shimo enquires about user name twice, then fails authentication

Reported by: n.o.bouvin@daimi.au.dk Assigned to: Fabian Jaeger
Priority: major Milestone: Shimo 2.1
Component: Cisco VPN Version: 2.0

Description

Using version 2.0.4.3 (361). Shimo has ceased working. I use CiscoVPN (which btw still works), and can no longer use Shimo to connect. When I try to connect with Shimo, it enquires twice about username (?), and then displays a dialog box claiming that authentication failed. This used to work flawlessly, and as the Cisco client is still working just fine, this is rather odd. I have not touched the Shimo preferences. I have included my latest logfile.

I'm experiencing the same symptoms reported in the initial entry in this bugtrac item.

I'm using Shim 2.0.6 (370) and Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 (0100). Cisco connects fine. Shimo requests my user name twice then fails user authentication.

I tried downloading, installing and using the Shimo_debug version listed above, with no change.

I'm happy to upload an error log, if that would be of any help.

Had to rebuild my system, so I reinstalled the Cisco VPN client and downloaded the current Shimo. I connected via Cisco, just to be sure it installed correctly, then disconnected.

With Cisco inactive but on my desktop, I connected successfully via Shimo.

I killed both, then tried unsuccessfully to connect via Shimo by itself.

So I tried this repetedly, and it worked as outlined above.

Shimo works as expected when the Cisco VPN app is up on the desktop but inactive, over and over again, connect, disconnect, connect, disconnect, etc.

Kill the Cisco VPN client, so it's not on the desktop or in memory, and Shimo gives a "User authentication failed" error.

Open the Cisco VPN back up but do not connect with it, and Shimo works again.

Rinse, repeat. Why does Shimo work only when the Cisco VPN client is in memory, but cannot seem to find it when it's not resident? Inquiring minds want to know...

BTW, the Shimo version used in my posts from yesterday is 2.0.7.1 (376).
